Race report Koster Swimrun 2019

  • september 23, 2019september 23, 2019
  • av Team Lost

Koster Swimrun last year was our first swimrun race and it was so cool to be back with more experience. ( You find the race report from last year here)

Friday
We started to drive from Jönköping to Strömstad. A boat waited for us to take us to the Koster Islands. Petter and Michaela welcomed us and we got a nice room with view over the sea. We stayed at Hotel Ekenäs

During the race briefing we got to know everything about the course and also that it was around 14 degrees in the water. All competitors had dinner together before it was time for the last race preparations.

Ready!

Saturday – race day
07.00 started with breakfast buffet at the hotel and had some chill time before start. The race started with a jump from a ferry and a short swim.

The following run was one of the longer runs and up and over the island. It was easy to follow the marks. The next swim was really hard last year. It was big waves and we had a lot of struggle. It was so much easier this year and the swim went well.

It was short swims and short runs over many small islands and the time went so fast. The weather was amazing and we really had a great day out.

One part of the race is really tricky, it’s a run with many small rocks. This part was double long last year because of the storm. Fanny was crying and had some trouble with it. Our speed this year over this part was still super slow but a little bit faster than last year and without tears.

We came to the last energy stations and took some Nocco and Barebells to prepare us for the last swim that was 1,3 k. It was a nice last swim before we came up for the last short run to finish line at Ekenäs hotel .

We ended up at 3rd place in the mixed class. The course was around 30 k in total with 5 k swim.

delicious food after the race

The day ended with a dinner together and party.

Koster swimrun is more than a race. It’s amazing weekend. This is a race we really recommend doing.

Thanks to NOCCO for all the support.

Rockman Swimrun 2019 race report

  • augusti 6, 2019augusti 9, 2019

We went up super early to have some oatmeal before we went down to the harbour. There was a ferry in the harbour taking us to the start at Fantahåla in Lysefjorden.

Before the start

It was an amazing sunrise and we started with a jump from the ferry. The first swim was around 950 meters and the the fun had started. Uphill, uphill, uphill, uphill. Hard to run in the beginning. After the harder uphill we could start to run.

Race map

It was small and tricky trails and the coming swims was short and fast. After a while we came to a 4400m run up to Preikestolen. This was super cool and when we came up it was like running on clouds. Fanny had some problems with breathing but otherwise everything felt ok. We had a steady pace, no stress.

When we were running down we met a lot of the other teams. It was many teams, around 50. We also met some followers that send us pictures after.

The hard part starts when it goes steep down and there’s a lot of rocks. Teams where passing us and Fanny was crying because she was a little scared downhill. We took it easy and were happy when it was time for swimming again. We came to a 1600m swim that felt awesome.

After the swim we came to a seaside sprint. This is not a sprint. It’s really tricky trails. We were taking it easy and we met a team that thinked we were racing about the 7 th place. Oh nooo… we answered. We are just happy to do this race and we’re not focusing on any place.  We stayed and took some energy together with the other team and then we ran uphill again. It was asfalt and we ran- walked- ran.  We were wondering if we were on the right way but a quick look at the watch and we could relax. We had the map in our watches so we colud see that we were on the right track. A really good thing.

On the longest road uphill ever we met some girls that was sharing on their men and had water and candy for us. Thanks! Now it was just some kilometres to next swimming when we should cross the big fjord to Flørli and take the famous 4444 steps up the mountain.

The swim was 1700 meters over, the water was pretty warm and it felt easy. When we started to walk up the steps, we should have taken more water with us because it was hot. We walked, walked and walked to get to the top. It took us almost one hour. When we reached the top it was time to swim. Amazing swim and the water tasted so good.  We had some cool running on the top and amazing swims before it was time to run the 5k downhill. First there was an easy road and then small trials and in the end super tricky trails. The last 1k felt like it took forever.

We made it! Super happy and our bodies felt so much better than we thought. 8 hours and 57 min. 7th place in total and second place in mixed teams.

2nd place

Sjöloppet! RACE REPORT – Winners again

  • juni 18, 2019juli 11, 2019
  • av Team Lost

Wow we won again! We really didn’t expect that.

This week we have practiced quick changes between running and swimming, we feel that this can save us a lot of time during the races.

Before Sjöloppet we had the attitude of having fun, getting all the changes between running and swimming to work well and get the teamwork to work better. We warmed up with the family race. A little over 1 km running and 200 m swimming. Like last week in Jönköping, the Unicorn was with us.

Then it was time for the sprint race at 15 km. It was hot and sweaty and we put ourselves at the front of the start.

We ran away quickly and was one of the first teams in the water. Patrik swam first and Fanny was behind. We took the lead after the first swimming. And we found a steady pace in the running. It was trails mixed with some asfalt. We didn’t think much about our place, we just tried to work on our team work and have fun.

At the end, the sprint race and the distance race ran into the finish line. We was the winners in the sprint class and also with a new course record. Super fun ande well organised race  that we love to run again!

Climate tips

  • mars 10, 2019maj 31, 2019
  • av Team Lost

We know that flights are not the best for the environment. Our biggest climate impact is through the flight, so we have chosen to carbon offset for our trips last year but also this year. We are also aware of what we can do about the environment when we travel and thought it would be great to sharing some tips.

  • First, look for the train alternatives.
  • If you need to fly. Direct flights are better than stops
  • Climate compensate your travel trip
  • Choose a hotel with some type of sustainability or eco-label.
  • Turn off the lamp door and turn off the air conditioner when not needed.
  • Be scarce with the water in the shower.
  • Recycle the towel in the hotel room.

To limit climate change, we need to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, for example by choosing climate-smart transportation, using green electricity, and eating more plant-based food. But no matter how ambitious you are, you’re still going to have a carbon footprint.

Carbon offsetting means that you pay to reduce emissions equivalent to your own through certified climate projects in developing countries. A project can, for example, involve conserving and planting forests or replacing dirty coal power with solar or wind power. By carbon offsetting, you contribute to reducing emissions where you can have the biggest impact! In a world where over 80% of our energy comes from fossil fuels, your carbon offsets make a real and guaranteed benefit for our climate.
