Trail running with backpack and tent

  • augusti 29, 2019augusti 31, 2019
  • av Team Lost

We started our adventure by taking the bus from Jönköping to Gränna harbour. We ran a few km until we joined the John Bauer trail.  This was something new for us, we have never done it before and never been running so long in 24 hours.

We have packed everything we needed for the coming days. Tent, sleeping bags, kitchen, food, new clothes etc.

packning

We started to run on asfalt before we came to super cool trails along Lake Vättern. The weather was perfect for running, a little cloudy and around 24 degrees.  Our plan was to make it all the way to Jönköping and we didn’t have any time goal so we walked uphill and toke it easy.

Small and cool trails

After a couple of hours, near the village of Bunn, we stopped and filled up our water bottles with more water. We took a look at the map and decided where we should put up the tent and sleep for the night. We decided to stop by a lake called Lappsjön. On the way there it started to get darker and darker. Lucky for us we had packed headlights that we used the last 5km.

We found the lake we were looking for, put up our tent, boiled some water and had a late dinner. The food from we brought was from Real Turmat and it was really nice to have food after some hours of running.  We ran 27 km the first day.

We woke up in paradise

We fell a sleep fast and woke up early with the birds that did some funny sounds. It was a super cool little place that we had found. We had breakfast. Patrik wanted food for breakfast and Fanny hade müsli. We boiled water for our water bottles and packed everything and got ready for running again.

water for drinking

Our bodies felt ok and we didn’t have any injuries except blisters on our toes from the first day. We hade the same plan as the first day, no stress and walk uphill. Our bags weighted about 5 kilo extra each and it was much harder to run with bags than we had expected.

We didn’t take any longer breaks, just kept moving forward. When we felt tired we walked for a bit. It started to rain in the end but it was just nice.

When we came to the finish of John Bauer trail we still had a bit left home. We ran down to Huskvarna, ca 5km, were we took the bus home.

We had a plan to maybe run the last bit home but it was 10 k on asphalt and we both felt that 31 km the second day was enough. We ended the second day with nice and cool trail running and a great feeling instead of add 10 k extra on asphalt.

We ran 58 k in total, happy and tierd when we came home.

We met the bears and squirrels in Arosa, Switzerland

  • augusti 20, 2019mars 14, 2020
  • av Team Lost

We had a whole day out in the mountains to discovered Arosa. We started the morning and took the cable cars up to the top of Weisshorn. The view was amazing and you can have a 360 view.

Next thing on our program was visiting Arosa Bear Sanctuary.
You find it on the Weisshorn mountain at an altitude of around 1,500 metres above sea level. It is situated close to the cable car’s middle station, right next to the skiing area. It’s a cooperation with FOUR PAWS and they save Bears and taking care of them.

The bears, formerly held in poor conditions, will find an animal-friendly home on an area of three hectares in the Swiss mountains.

In the large, richly structured enclosures, the bears will find a habitat that corresponds to their natural needs. Besides areas for bathing and retreat, various activities are planned to keep the bears occupied. In order to motivate the bears and encourage the development of their instincts, their food will be hidden in new spots every day. Like in the wild, the animals will spend most of their day looking for food.

We took a hike down from the mountain. Futher down you will find some restaurants, where you can have lunch.

The last bit down from the mountain there is a squirrel trail. This is an activity that we all found very fun. The small and cute animals came and ate from our hands. It was a little tricky in the beginning but after we walked the trail a bit it was much easier to come close to them. They eat hassel nuts so we had bought a big bag with us. In autumn the squirrels start collecting their winter stock by burying seeds and nuts.

Here is a GPX-file of the trail to follow.

There’s so much more you can do in Arosa like a challenging rope park at the Obersee, do minigolf, rent a boat and more.

We have been looking forward to this weekend for so long! Rockman Swimrun is a race that have been on our bucket list from day 1.

In collaboration with MABI hyrbilar we borrowed a Mini cooper over the weekend. A perfect sized car for our adventures.

We started our roadtrip on Thursday and the first stop was Mærrapanna i Norway. We put up our tent. Had some dinner and saw an amazing sunset.

Amazing sunset

We are using a tent from Vaude. We really like the brand, the quality and that they have eco friendly products. The have a Green Shape label, that means that their products are made from sustainable materials.

They are under constant review and cover the entire lifecycle of the product from design, through production, care and maintenance, to repair and the product’s end of life. The products we have is tent Hogan SUL 2P, Matress Performance 7 M , Sleeping bags Alpstein Concept Alpstein 200 DWN  and backpack Trail spacer 18.

We woke up and took a short dip in the sea before it was time to drive to Stavanger for Rockman Swimrun. We had a short swimrun break in porpuse of checking all our gear one last time before the race. Everything felt great and we continued driving to Stavanger. We arrived just in time to pick up our racegear and to the race briefing.

We went to bed early because we were boarding the boat to the start at 06:00.

Rockman Swimrun 2019 race report

  • augusti 6, 2019augusti 9, 2019
  • av Team Lost

We went up super early to have some oatmeal before we went down to the harbour. There was a ferry in the harbour taking us to the start at Fantahåla in Lysefjorden.

Before the start

It was an amazing sunrise and we started with a jump from the ferry. The first swim was around 950 meters and the the fun had started. Uphill, uphill, uphill, uphill. Hard to run in the beginning. After the harder uphill we could start to run.

Race map

It was small and tricky trails and the coming swims was short and fast. After a while we came to a 4400m run up to Preikestolen. This was super cool and when we came up it was like running on clouds. Fanny had some problems with breathing but otherwise everything felt ok. We had a steady pace, no stress.

When we were running down we met a lot of the other teams. It was many teams, around 50. We also met some followers that send us pictures after.

The hard part starts when it goes steep down and there’s a lot of rocks. Teams where passing us and Fanny was crying because she was a little scared downhill. We took it easy and were happy when it was time for swimming again. We came to a 1600m swim that felt awesome.

After the swim we came to a seaside sprint. This is not a sprint. It’s really tricky trails. We were taking it easy and we met a team that thinked we were racing about the 7 th place. Oh nooo… we answered. We are just happy to do this race and we’re not focusing on any place.  We stayed and took some energy together with the other team and then we ran uphill again. It was asfalt and we ran- walked- ran.  We were wondering if we were on the right way but a quick look at the watch and we could relax. We had the map in our watches so we colud see that we were on the right track. A really good thing.

On the longest road uphill ever we met some girls that was sharing on their men and had water and candy for us. Thanks! Now it was just some kilometres to next swimming when we should cross the big fjord to Flørli and take the famous 4444 steps up the mountain.

The swim was 1700 meters over, the water was pretty warm and it felt easy. When we started to walk up the steps, we should have taken more water with us because it was hot. We walked, walked and walked to get to the top. It took us almost one hour. When we reached the top it was time to swim. Amazing swim and the water tasted so good.  We had some cool running on the top and amazing swims before it was time to run the 5k downhill. First there was an easy road and then small trials and in the end super tricky trails. The last 1k felt like it took forever.

We made it! Super happy and our bodies felt so much better than we thought. 8 hours and 57 min. 7th place in total and second place in mixed teams.

2nd place

Workout plan and goals!

  • juli 21, 2019juli 21, 2019
  • av Team Lost

We still see ourselves as beginners in swimrun. Ok maybe not in the sprint races but in the longer races. We constantly learn during training, about all equipment and during competitions. We have a long-term goal of qualifying for ÖtillÖ World championship next year. 65 km of running and 9.5 km of swimming. We want to be prepared and strong. In the recent months we have received a lot of tips from Oscar Olsson – o2tri. Now he will also help us with training plans. Oscar have been competing in swimrun for many years and have 3 second places in ÖtillÖ World championship. The goal we have this year is to continue to improve without stressing about the results. We want to have fun and inspire others to try out the sport. Our podiums the last months are extra bonus!

We have a lot of things coming up so Oscar is planning our training with this things in mind. We’re looking forward to get better and stronger with Oscars help.

Skydiving from 4000 meters

  • juni 3, 2019juni 3, 2019
  • av Team Lost

Last week we visited Bodyflight. That was pretty much a warm up for the real deal – Skydiving from an airplane. 😁

We went to Skövde Airport for a skydive with instructors from Tandemhopp.se. We had an instructor behind us all along and we went up in the air with a small airplain with around 10 other people. Patrik had done a jump one time before but it was the first time for Fanny, who was really nervous.

When we were 4000 meters up in the air they opened the door of the airplane and people starting to jump out. There was not time for thinking, just follow along and jump. 🤷🏻‍♀️

How was it?
Check out our vidoe below.

If we want to do it again? Yes!
Thanks tandemhopp.se for having us.
